Have A Thirty Dollar Shopping Spree At Yard Sales
If your hobby is shopping but the current economy has put a halt to that hobby, then try taking thirty dollars to a yard sale and see what you can come home with.
Yard sales have many fans. You will find people that enjoy hosting the sale as well as persons that enjoy finding the bargains. Many people enjoy crossing the line between the two and will actually buy items at one sale that they think they can sell for a profit at their own yard sale that next time that they host a garage or yard sale.
The items that can be found at a typical yard sale are numerous. At one sale you may find a book of scrapbook ideas, while at another there will be a for sale digital camera. At still another you may find an old wet dry vacuum that is missing all its hoses and attachments. You never know what you may find until you walk through the makeshift tables and shelves that are set up in the driveway or on the lawn of the sale.
Some people will have an annual sale. They may be getting rid of items for which they have purchased replacements through the year. At other times yard sales are used to liquidate estates. Sometimes a yard sale is held after a wedding when two households have been combined and have duplicates of almost everything.
Here are some keys to success when holding a yard sale.
You need to price everything. You can find pre-printed price stickers at most office supply stores that make pricing easy. Your prices should not be too high, but should still leave some room for bargaining. If more than one family is involved in the sale, then each family should have different color price stickers. The stickers can then be peeled off the item and put in a notebook to keep track of what is due at the end of the sale. Do not forget to change the prices of items sold at below the marked price.
Always be willing to take less than the asking price in order to get rid of the stuff and not have to haul it to the dump or give it to charity. Remember that you are trying to get rid of some of the stuff that is cluttering up your home. If you cling to tightly to it, it may end up back inside adding to the clutter or at the end of the sale, you may end up having to pay at the landfill to get rid of something that could have been sold cheaply and used by someone else.
